The Future of Smell Measurement

Sony has developed a machine to measure your sense of smell, which may be able to detect early signs of dementia. This new technology could enhance a person’s health and may have a purpose in the future of hospitals and the medical profession.

As people tend to show a decline in their sense of smell before developing dementia, an accurate olfactory test could provide the early detection of a decrease in neurological functions.

The need for olfactory measurement is also increasing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This device goes on sale next spring with an estimated price of $15,900.
